Dead Bait 3 eBook Cody Goodfellow Lance Schonberg Mark C Scioneaux Tim Curran Murphy Edwards C Dennis Moore ST Gulik Randal Tanabe Reviews

Not as good as the other two books in the series but if you like fish horror? Then you wont regret it. The Tim Curran story was the stand out for me and pushed this up from a 3 star review.
The third installment of this briny trilogy is even better. Finny fun four everyone. I hope there is another forthcoming.
To me, the Summer is a time when when I can kick back and relax. I pull the cord on the mower, it churns to life spitting fumes, I push it around a bit, all so I can ultimately claim my reward. Which would be a fresh beer, and a fresh (as in newly procured) book.

I'm writing this in November, and I'm getting a nostalgic feeling just thinking about the awesomeness of Summer. Part of that awesomeness is that I have a strange need, and or hunger for, B-Movie type creature stuff. Or things that have an ocean/fish/sea/beach/tropical feel to them. Jungles work too. I guess I just have seasonal tastes.

I read this back in August, freshly off of the other 2 in the series. I rank DEAD BAIT 3 the same as "1", in my eyes they are tied. The original has more stories, and it also has a great story by Tim Curran (Tim Curran is one of the reasons "3" is worthwhile). It's hard to declare a winner here.

Cody Goodfellow and Tim Curran pen my favorite tales in this collection. Goodfellow offers up some aquatic-mutant action with a twist ending, while Curran writes a kind of sequel to THE OLD MAN AND THE SEA. I think those stories alone are worth it. The rest of the stories here are solid too, I had my faves and those that I thought were just OK, but there aren't any stinkers.

This is in no way a "one or two" star anthology.

~4 Stars
Let's just say I'm glad I have kindle unlimited because had I spent any real money on this, I would've been severely disappointed.

Of the 3 in this anthology series, DB3 is by far the weakest. None of the stories really stand out or offer anything new. Although none of them are horribly bad, most of these seem almost comical by comparison to the first 2. I mean, just look at the one story here about a talking fish. It's just stupid, compounded even more so when you realize it's almost a direct rip-off of "The Monkey's Paw". Even Curran's short was somewhat on the weak side, which is weird saying when almost everything he's written has been fairly good and entertaining...but then again, it is a rehash of Hemingway's "The Old Man and the Sea" so maybe it was intentional?

Basically, this one was disappointing. Sure, there weren't any horribly "bad" stories in this collection, but they were almost all boring. I think this is a perfect example of Severed Press not knowing when to call it quits, or at least not being patient enough to wait and collect a better batch of shorts. I also think they lost faith in their own creation as this was definitely the poorest quality of the bunch (even if it was straight to ebook) as the typeface was never consistent and typos abounded. It appears as if they did learn their lesson though this was published back in 2012 and there hasn't been a new one since...
The first two were diverting or odd or even truly good stuff. Goofy or over-earnest but worth my time. The third installment has nothing in it to speak of. Weak and not equal to the other two.
nice
Mildly entertaining, but not as quirky or well written as the 1st two volumes. Not a waste of time per sé, but there are better books out there.
Very entertaining, this book is a great read if you have an interest in fishing and gore. I couldn't put it down.
